The Biyuti Project invited emerging artists who identify as Filipinx and LGBTQIA+ who are between the ages of 18 and 29, and who have exited or graduated from an Ontario Catholic school board within the past ten years. 

They were recruited through the networks of Filipinx community organizations and Filipino/a/x university student associations. The research team also circulated the call for participants among York Faculty of Education students. 

A total of nine emerging artists engaged in the project.
